The first time you send a message with the setting on, your phone asks whether Nymbot may send notifications. Say no and nothing is shown or registered.

ଆଣ୍ଡ୍ରଏଡରେ it all stays on your device. While a reply is pending and the app is in the background, Android shows a quiet “Waiting for Nymbot's reply…” notification, which is what keeps the app running so the reply can arrive. When it does, the app posts “Nymbot replied” with the chat's title, read from your device and never sent anywhere. The waiting notification goes away as soon as nothing is pending or you open the app.
